Something's wrong with the picture, and nearly everyone can feel it. This book Introduction names the forces behind the dissonance — and the instruments for detecting them.

The other is the book — the standing argument those entries keep testing against the world. Until now the book has been something I referred to. From here on I'm releasing it, one chapter at a time, for premium subscribers, in the sequence it's meant to be read.
Each chapter assumes the ground the one before it laid. Read in order, they're the architecture the field work sits inside.
This week: the Introduction — Seeing Into Darkness
The Introduction to the Signal Report book argues that the world genuinely doesn't add up when you run it through the conventional frameworks — and that the reason has nothing to do with a cabal. Large, persistent, mostly public forces act on the economy at scales and speeds the unaided mind can't resolve. I call them "centers of obscured gravity."
The Introduction lays out the full apparatus: what these forces are, why they stay invisible even when the facts are public, and the two methods the Signal Report uses to find them — sonography, which tunes the instrument to frequencies conventional analysis doesn't use, and transit detection, which reads a force through the patterned disturbance it leaves in data we can already measure. It ends with the map of everything that follows.
